Points of Interest:
-
The farm stand here creates excellent smoothies made with freshly squeezed sugar cane juice. Swimming is nice in the lower waterfall pools. The upper falls can be treacherous especially if it’s raining so avoid those!
-
There isn’t a lot of room for cars (maybe 2-3 tops) so if space is available, grab it! The waterfall is just RIGHT THERE and really fun to visit. There are a lot of waterfalls on this drive so if it’s crowded, don’t worry, you’ll find another waterfall soon.
-
A beautiful Sightseeing spot for Amazing Coastal views. RESTROOMS

If you’re only going halfway, this can be one of the turnaround points and the most spectacular stop of this short route. The shoreline is rugged, and often the crashing waves are quite a show. It is NOT a place to swim.… RESTROOMS

If you’ve been hunting for the best banana bread on the island, Auntie Sandy’s at Ke’anae Landing has been reviewed as one of the best. You’ll have to turn left off of Hana Highway between mile marker 10 and 11 (look for the Ke’anae sign), but it’s a short drive down to the peninsula.
-
You’ll see the big signs for this stop and I recommend pulling over for a quick picnic lunch here! It’ll be busy during the lunch hour but 100% worth it. If you didn’t try banana bread at Aunt Sandy’s, grab a loaf here. But what makes them stand out is their amazing pineapple smoothies.

Near mile marker 24, this lovely cascade and its crystal-clear pool could very well be the most photographed waterfall in Hawaii. The best place to photograph this 30-foot stunner is right on the bridge, one of 80 that was completed in the area between 1908 and 1940—it seems as though the deeper and deeper you travel into the jungle that characterized the Road to Hana, the further you go back in time. Though it’s tempting to pick yourself a way down to the pool below the falls, we don’t advise it—the land often gives way to landslides, and can be slippery and treacherous.
-
Several open-air restaurants and cafes are here along with a handmade souvenir shop. The coconut candy is some of the best anywhere. Grabbing lunch here and heading back afterward could be another “halfway” plan.
-
This snack stand just before Wai‘anapanapa State Park was our favorite. Hana Farms has an array of baked goods, foodie souvenirs (like a tasty pineapple lime hot sauce,) as well as coffee and sandwiches. The banana bread here is great and comes in a few varieties—the chocolate chip banana bread is particularly decadent. We still dream about the delicious chocolate macadamia nut cookies here—we shared one as it was humongous but later wished we’d stocked up.
-
Black Sand Beach, ancient lava caves, seabird colony, hidden blowholes and panoramic vistas (free admission)
-
It’s worth stopping at the quirky old-school General Store where they sell everything from saws to beer to souvenirs (fresh food is limited). For fresh fruit, there are lots of fruit stands around Hana where you can buy locally grown passionfruit, apple bananas, pineapple, guava, papaya and more.Try lunch at Braddah Hutts in Hana Bay – Beautiful beach and boat dock. There is a snack bar here with covered pavilions and picnic tables. Locals gather here on the weekends and Hana’s outrigger canoe club can be seen paddling in this bay training for the canoe regattas in the spring and summer. Be prepared to stand in line for snack bar food.
