Join us for a memorable afternoon on the Pacific Ocean by taking a family-friendly cruise to view these incredible marine mammals from the Calypso, a three-story catamaran. The Calypso departs from the Ma’alaea Harbor, which is located in the heart of Maui and easily accessible by car from Kihei, Wailea, Wailuku, and Kahului.

Calypso is the only catamaran on Maui with three decks, and no other boat on the island is higher. Calypso also has a deck with 360-degree ocean views, making it the perfect boat for whale watching experiences.

As you depart Maalaea Harbor, watch for significant movement in the water and large misty splashes in the distance. The naturalists aboard the Calypso will give you a “swimming commentary” by giving you a live report of the whales’ movements in the water. Learn the movements whales make on the surface of the water, including tail slaps, pec slaps, peduncle throws, spy hops, breaching, and more.

When the Calypso is stopped, go down to the underwater viewing room and look for humpback whales through the glass panels in the bottom of the ship. It is rare to see a whale-watching vessel with a glass bottom in the seating area, and it will be an impressive experience.
