By the end of this tour, you will feel like you have gained a better understanding of the island of Oahu and the food that locals enjoy! During your mouth-watering excursion, be sure to try out some local slang related to food:
- Broke ‘da mouth (experiencing unbelievable food) and
- Ono grindz (delicious eats)
(And while you’re at the North Shore, ask our guide to explain “Eddie Would Go”.)
This tour includes a wonderful light, local breakfast consisting of Leonard’s Malasadas. Bottled water is also served during breakfast.
Tour Highlights:
Halona Blowhole Lookout – Enjoy these majestic wonders of nature located on a coastline featured in a few Hollywood movies. On the way, be sure to savor your Leonard’s Malasadas as you charge up for the day’s adventure! Malasadas and water included at no additional cost.
Nu’uanu Pali Lookout – Gaze upon the lush windward side, from mountain to sea as you learn about the ancient Hawaiian battle that took place upon this cliffside. In fact, “Pali” means “cliff” in Hawaiian, and this is where the infamous Battle of Nu’uanu took place in 1795 where King Kamehameha I emerged victorious and united Oahu under one rule. Many of the enemy soldiers were forced off of these sheer cliffs and perished. Be sure to bring a jacket because this lookout is famous for its brisk winds!
A visit to the Tropical Macadamia Nut Farm From humble beginnings to a must visit when headed to the North Shore, Tropical Farms of Hawaii can’t be missed! Starting as a small, roadside operation in 1987, owners Steve and Chrissy Paty welcome all visitors with open arms and are eager to share their delicious macadamia nut products with everyone searching for that signature Hawaiian “Mac Nut” taste.
Lunch stop at North Shore Shrimp Truck. Famous even among locals! Enjoy scrumptious shrimp for lunch and choose from their signature dishes: butter garlic shrimp (most popular!), spicy lemon shrimp or coconut shrimp. Non-shrimp and vegetarian options are also available.
Lunch is included at no additional cost!
Kahuku Fruit Stand. Be sure to try their delicious fried local banana! It’s not Hawaii without tropical, locally grown fruit. And this fruit is about as fresh as it can get! Picked nearby and plopped right into the fruit stand, there is no need to worry about preservatives with these babies.
A visit to historic Haleiwa Town This historic town is famous for surfing, shopping, and shave ice! Hand-crafted, unique souvenirs can be found here in abundance, most made by local artisans. Don’t forget to sample some local treats on your stroll well!
We finish our day at the one and only Dole Pineapple Plantation – Operation started as a small fruit stand in 1950 and has grown to become Hawaii’s premier “Pineapple Experience” with the opening of Dole Plantation in 1989. Today, Dole Plantation is known worldwide and attracts more than one million visitors a year. Be sure to sample their popular “Dole Whip” on your visit.
