Kualoa Ranch, Oahu, Hawai’i – Your One-Stop Shop for Holiday Excitement
You might as well look at Kualoa Ranch on Oahu as your chance to behave like a kid in a candy store. There’s just so much to choose from! However, we would never say you were spoiled for choice but more blessed with it. And why? Well, if you have come to Hawaii as a family, almost from the get-go you will be faced by one of the greatest challenges facing any family vacation… finding something you will all enjoy doing! Problem solved at Kualoa Ranch…
Welcome to the Jurassic era – did you enjoy the film?
One of the greatest challenges when writing about Kualoa Ranch is knowing where to begin, there is just so much going on. And that’s great news for everyone, whether you are a film buff or not. And why have we mentioned films? Because this part of Oahu has been the site of multiple blockbuster movies, including Jurassic Park. So, what does this mean for you? It means you have the choice of going on the ATV Raptor tour, the Jurassic Adventure tour, or the Hollywood Movie Sites tour. Not bad for starters…
Maybe you’d prefer to go on an adventure?
Who doesn’t like an adventure? Better still as the adventures from Kualoa Ranch give you a great choice where methods of transport are concerned. Of course, the ATV (all-terrain vehicle) is perfectly adapted to the undulating countryside, or maybe you fancy a Jungle Jeep expedition? For those of you who prefer something a little more sedate, then how about going on an eMountain Bike tour – we particularly like the letter ‘e’ in front of ‘mountain’ as that means you don’t have to pedal so hard up the hills thanks to the onboard electric motor. And no, the ‘e’ applies to the bike, it’s not an electric mountain, that would be silly, wouldn’t it. Then again, maybe not…
For those of you who love to discover little known facts, in Scotland they call the side of a hill a ‘brae’, and in Dunure, South Ayrshire there’s a place known as the Electric Brae. Have fun watching this weird video of cars freewheeling uphill!
A ranch wouldn’t be a ranch without horses
One of the most popular tours at Kualoa Ranch is the Horseback Walking tour where you get to spend two wonderful hours strolling through the lush Ka’a’awa “Jurassic” valley, enjoying the view from atop your trusty steed. If enjoying your natural surroundings and convening with nature helps you to switch off and relax, you might also enjoy the Malama Aina (care for the land) tour. Here you will go back as far as 2,000 years as you learn about the importance of the taro root as part of the diet and the lo’i ponds where the root is cultivated.
Let’s not forget about the coast and the sea either
You can’t really go anywhere in Hawaii without being able to see the coastline and the sea beyond, and why wouldn’t you want to be able to see it and enjoy it? At Kualoa Ranch you can take part in a multitude of pastimes on the Secret Island Beach Adventure, such as canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, beach volleyball or table tennis, though if you prefer something more sedate, you can enjoy the day gently swaying back and forth in your hammock while you read a great book. Of course, if the ocean has that magnetic pull over you, then you’re going to find the Ocean Voyage Adventure on board a stunning 49-passenger catamaran the perfect way to spend your time. Head out from Moli’i Dock to Secret Island (it’s not really that secret or you’d never find it!), travel round Mokoli’i Island (Chinaman’s Hat) and sail past Holule’a Beach, home to the famous double-hulled Hawiian canoe, and if you’re lucky, you may even get to see some of Hawaii’s much talked about green turtles.
You’ll also be glad to know that transport is also available to the ranch from Waikiki, so you’ve no excuse now not to go and to enjoy some seriously memorable holiday fun!
Here at Lea Lea Tours we are always keen to ‘cherry pick’ the very best of tours available and to provide access to the best transport options on the beautiful Hawai’ian Islands.
